[Arashi] Defining Spaces

Title: Defining Spaces
Group/Pairings: Arashi/Yama (Ohno/Sho) + Soubu Line (Nino/Aiba)
Prompt: various
Word Count: 2387 [in 50 sentences]
Rating: PG
Genre: Slice of Life/Humor
Summary: There’s supposedly not many of them out there, cold-blooded bastards who just want their partners to leave them alone. So why did they end up with two in the same group?
Disclaimer: I own nobody. Purely fictional, of course. :3
Notes: Inspired by a theme set (epsilon) snagged from [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence, and Arashi ni Shiyagare 2013.12.21 (that talk about their type of girls/partners).

Warning: Shamelessly intentional abuse of punctuation marks.

[Note II: In case it gets confusing (it confused me, too XD), I have color-coded the prompt headings to match the POV I used for each sentence (Red for Sho, Yellow for Nino, Green for Masaki, and Blue for Satoshi). Also, there are two sets  of alternating settings used here: in the first one, Sho and Masaki are drinking out, while Satoshi and Nino are at Nino’s place; I think the second one will be easy enough to figure out once you get reading ^__^<3]

22 – Mad
In hindsight, Sho realizes it is probably not a good idea to go out on a drinking binge with Masaki Aiba tonight, considering how the younger man is in one of his ill-suited “Kazunari Ninomiya is an asshole” moods; not that he is any better with his “Satoshi Ohno is a bigger asshole” mindset— “It’s becoming sort of a habit, isn’t it?”

39 - Torn
It does not take Nino a second to figure out what’s happening when he opens his door to see a disgruntled Ohno, sighing and shuffling his shoes on his rubber doormat and looking like an overgrown puppy, not unlike himself, who has just been abandoned in the midst of an unfinished orgasm— “They did it again, huh?”

15 – Hold
Masaki isn’t usually one to wallow this much in his anger, but being on the receiving end of one Kazunari Ninomiya’s lukewarm, if not a little too negligent, approach to a long-suffering relationship is seriously beginning to take its toll on his alcohol-soaked patience— “I could just strangle that bastard in his sleep, you know!”

11 – Blur
Now that he thinks about it, Satoshi can hardly even remember what made him agree to move in with Sho in the first place, aside from the more obvious reasons of saving up on rent, transportation expenses (mostly on Sho’s part), and time (still, mostly on Sho’s part) when the younger man wanted to just hang out for whatever reason, and he, for the same whatever reason, was always somehow reeled in, then kissed, licked, sucked, and helplessly blown to submission within an inch of his life and sanity— “Is it our fault, Nino?”

42 - Bother
Just when Sho is about to get worried that leaving Satoshi after working said man up to a sexual rubicon will have dire and serious consequences, he remembers it is Satoshi Ohno—poster boy for the ‘everything-at-my-own-pace’ movement, and chapter president of the ‘I-don’t-give-a-shit-either-way’ club—Sho can’t help snorting at just how not dire those consequences might be— “My bastard’s probably at your bastard’s place right now.”

05 - Wrong
It is not true that Nino has no romantic bone in his body, though it may not be too far from the truth either; like, he can pretty much lay down his money-hoarding tendencies once in a while to buy gifts for his partner, but he will not deny he does end up using Masaki’s own money for it most of the time, or that he never buys anything that he cannot eventually use himself, because why can’t love be practical too?— “Either way, it shouldn’t really bother us, right?”

48 - Precious
Masaki appreciates the little things, he really does; he guesses being with someone like Nino helps one understand the importance of the end results more than the means and the effort; but the amount of time it takes for Nino to limp his way from the last grossly accidental romantic word vomit to the next (which is about all Masaki can ever hope to get) can apparently tire out even the most appreciative of airheads— “Why don’t we head out over there and light that place up or something, ne, Sho-chan?”

01 - Motion
If it were up to Satoshi, he would ban the use of any and all kinds of affectionate words in bed; he would even make an effort to learn enough complicated kanji just so he can write a law against it, because isn’t it just overdoing it to have to tell your partner how much you love him, when you’re already ramming yourself into him with all the love you have in your cock... and heart?— “It does bother me, you know.”

16 - Need
Sho does not usually get all worked up over the trivial stuffs, but those he does care about, he cares about passionately, especially when he’s just begrudgingly denied himself a potentially mind-blowing bedroom soiree just so he can prove a point— “Just how hard is it to say the fucking words, seriously?!”

44 - Wall
Nino does treasure his pride more than he knows he should, but this does not mean he cannot break down the walls once in a while to try and see where his unbelievably sentimental partner is coming from (though, he almost always just bluffs his way through it without really figuring things out anyway)— “Yeah, I guess it does bother me, too.”

23 - Child
Masaki sometimes wonders where Nino keeps the heart he uses to pen those unnervingly sweet and sappy lyrics he sings to everyone else, when the man can’t even be bothered to spare a lame-ass reply to Masaki’s short, but sincerely heartfelt mails every morning— “They’re such kids, both of them!”

03 - Young
Even as he smashes his fingers numb on the buttons and triggers of the X-box controller, alternately beating up on and getting beaten up by Nino’s equally aggressive game character, Satoshi can’t help blurting out the resentful thoughts that’s been niggling at the back of his mind like a persistent itch in the butt (which he’s never had problems blurting out either)— “How did we end up with such immature partners anyway?”

24 - Now
Sho is not particularly religious, but he’s seriously starting to believe they must’ve collected a truckload of shitty karma in their past lives to deserve these equally shitty strokes of bad luck in their present existence (because why else would Fate allow such ice-cold creatures like Satoshi and Nino to exist on the same plane, in the same lifetime, at exactly the same time, if not to fuck up Sho and Masaki’s lives?)—  “We don’t really have to keep punishing ourselves like this, do we, Masaki?”

04 - Last
Nino hits the pause button on his controller, making sure that he does so at a glaringly advantageous point for him once they resume, and turns his full attention to the older man beside him, who has yet to come to terms with why their game has suddenly frozen on the fifty-inch, LCD flat screen before them (which was one of Nino’s yolo splurges from last year, and a supposed birthday gift for Masaki that somehow ended up getting stuck in his house)— “Oh-chan, don’t you think it’s about time for a change of pace?”

13 - Change
It isn’t like Masaki has not been thinking about just letting it all go; he thinks about it more than he is willing to admit, more than is healthy, so hearing it spill out from Sho’s mouth like it’s the most natural thing to do (though it rips at his heart and turns his fragile ego inside out) gives him a renewed purpose, a less blurrier perspective on something he should’ve seriously done a long, long, long time ago—never mind bleeding all over his man pride because of it— “Do we even bother talking to those two about this?”

35 – Sudden
The frown that wrinkles Satoshi’s face at hearing Nino’s question reflects confused reluctance more than thoughtful consideration; it suddenly hits him just how far a seemingly petty argument can slither down the wrong drain if he just sits on his haunches and turns his complacent nose up at it, like he always seems to do (well, technically, he’s sitting on Nino’s white couch—so white, it’s practically glowing—but he doesn’t really think it should matter now)— “But... Sho-chan’s just moved in.”

10 - Learn
Sho can’t say that the last two months have been perfect, but if he were to choose, he wouldn’t have it any other way; while it’s true that he has more than once regretted his decision to share a house with Satoshi, owing mostly to the fact that Satoshi is hardly even around in spirit, always drifting off and getting entangled in his own little world of fish lures and tunas at the most unnervingly inappropriate times (that is, if he’s not out drinking with friends or communing with the sea), it’s been, nevertheless, a rather interesting few weeks of adapting and shifting his perspectives around into a mold mature enough to keep him from murdering his partner in cold blood— “Moving back out will be such a hassle, though.”

12 - Wait
Nino has no problem with domesticity, and, contrary to popular belief, is more than willing to share his private space with the man he’s been fucking on and off for years (well, at least, it’s on and off for him); what does put his cutesy little trunks in a wad, though, is the asking part—he’s never cared to ask Masaki to move in, just as Masaki has never dared to ask if he can, so they’ve never really managed to cross that line ten years in; and now, it’s starting to look at lot like they never will— “If I feel sort of glad that I’ve never asked that idiot to come live with me, does that make me bad?”

17 - Vision
If there’s anything Masaki regrets about hooking it up and sticking it out with Nino, despite the constant unintentional heartache (or so Nino says), and the resulting triple salvo of frustrated tears, beaten-down ego and nightmare-inducing mind-fuck from trying to catch up with Nino’s  mostly-heartless-and-condescending-at-best moods, it’s that he even allowed himself to believe it when Nino told him they’re probably going to be stuck with each other for good, no matter what happens along the way (he should’ve really known it was too good to be true, but then again it’s Nino, and it’s him)— “I never asked him to paint rainbows for me, you know.”

25 – Shadow
Satoshi has pretty much let go of the game controller, just as he has with a large portion of his pride; it isn’t even like it’s the first time that this has happened (Sho walks out on him with such regularity that it’s actually began bothering him when the younger man misses out on a week), but he has never felt this worried about it before; like, he can practically feel that something bad is about to happen if he keeps sticking his butt to Nino’s couch (still white, still glowing, and not anymore comforting as falling, butt-first, on a pile of cacti)— “I don’t want to have to move Sho-chan’s furniture back out, though.”

34 - Sing
Sho sighs and refills Masaki’s cup with shochu before doing the same to his own empty cup, “I never asked him for more than just being there, when I want him there.”

30 - Ghost
Sometimes, Nino can’t help wondering whether the old man beside him is being totally serious or dubiously airheaded enough to be playing with his mind, “Seriously, you’re worried about that right now?!”

28 – Fortune
Masaki pouts and nibbles pensively on the edge of his cup, “How’d we even get so un-lucky, Sho-chan?”

20 – Picture
Satoshi sighs and crosses his arms over his chest thoughtfully, “Among other things, of course.”

06 - Gentle
Sho wonders if this whole deal has more to do with him being non-confrontational, or Satoshi having the attention span of a gnat when it comes to things that really matter, “We’ve never really fought, you know; and I’m starting to doubt that’s a good thing.”

07 – One
Nino raises an amused brow at the older man, suddenly hating the fact that he’s getting annoyed by this show of coolness, especially when he knows he’s not much different, “Do you think... maybe this time... we’ve really overdone it... ne, Oh-chan?”

08 - Thousand
“You’ve walked out on him like a hundred times, though,” Aiba points out, before gasping faintly at the jolt of electricity that shoots through his spine when he realizes he’s not been doing any better.

27 – Hide
“Don’t I get naked enough when I take my clothes off?” Satoshi grumbles with a dogged pout, further adding, “Why do I have to strip my pride too and embarrass myself saying all those awkward stuffs he already knows about anyway?!”

37 – Time
“When I look back at us, and see how far we’ve gone with Satoshi-kun being like that, I kind of want to bang my head into a wall and scream; maybe that’ll wake me out of this... whatever this is!”

32 - Eye
“I really don’t get it, either, but it’s supposed to make them feel good, you know; and that’s supposed to be important.”

31 – Book
“All those candy-coated romance novels in J’s bookshelf never did get it right, huh?”

40 - History
“Life seems so easy when kissing wasn’t yet that big of a requirement.”

47 - Harm
“Maybe, we’ve really been expecting a little too much from them.”

29 – Safe
“Maybe, we really need to be giving them something more.”

41 - Power
“Maybe you’re right, Sho-chan.”

38 – Wash
“Maybe... you have a point, Nino.”

36 - Stop
Sho drains the last shot of liquor in his cup before taking a deep and calming breath that tries to expel the resentment from his nerves, but only makes it halfway through, “I should probably be going home.”

14 - Command
“It’s getting late, and I’m kind of sleepy,” Nino muses, no longer a stranger to this game, though mindful enough to be taking a little hint from it each time, “Should I call you a cab?”

46 - Drive
Masaki can’t yet decide whether to cry or to laugh over all of this, the same way that he gets confused over it each week, “Yeah, he’s probably a little bit worried about me now.”

49 - Hunger
Satoshi looks at their unfinished game and lets out a huge and wistful sigh, “I haven’t even had proper dinner yet.”

~(n.n)~

26 - Goodbye
Like fresh new lines on an empty canvass, the four grown men (or so they say) wave and part to go on their separate ways (aside from Nino, of course, who always gets to stay and wait in his own house), dashing about and meandering around (two of them lost in their own quiet thoughts, while the other rushes into the nearest konbini for a quick snack) to paint a chaotic picture of two complicated love affairs that aren’t really much different from each other.

43 – God
And with God as their witness (for every week since they got it into their heads to even get into this relationship where the good things always somehow ends up offsetting the bad every time), they kiss and make up, and do a whole lot of other things afterwards that surprisingly make the brief influx of drama oddly worthwhile (for Masaki and Sho, at the very least).

~(n.n)~

18 - Attention
“Masaki...”

19 - Soul
“Sho-chan...?”

02 – Cool
“Hm?”

09 – King
“Yes, Satoshi-kun?”

33 - Never
“Don’t leave, okay?”

45 - Naked
“Stay with me, all right?”

50 - Believe
“Idiot...”

21 - Fool
“...do I even have a choice?”
