Alive II
[Ohno/Sho] [PG-13] [AU]
Mets City—
The land of endless opportunities, cradle of emboldened dreams, and an untarnished canvass to Satoshi’s picture perfect life...
Not a spot out of place. Not a dot missing, or angle crooked.
All lines, and colors, and shades are straight-up manifestations of honest, uncomplicated feelings, with only the subtlest curves, the dullest of edges.
He’s never known life outside of this city.
He doesn’t wanna know life anywhere else—
A soft smile touches Satoshi’s lips long before he opens his eyes. The warm, gentle caress of sunlight brings a familiar flush to his face and the proverbial promise of a brand new morning along with it.
A brand new day.
To breathe. To live.
To love—
“Good morning, Satoshi-kun...”
He hears the voice.
He loves that voice.
And yet for one brief moment, he thinks he feels the faintest flick in his chest that sends his lips quivering, his smile faltering for a split-second, as the muffled echoes of his own faraway voice fill a small, hollowed corner in his head—
‘Wake up!’
‘Wake up!!’
‘WAKE—!!!’
“What’s wrong?” The gentle brush of fingertips down his cheek redeems his smile. Refocuses everything he is, and everything he’s not back to this moment.
Without hesitation, nor suspicion, nor unfounded doubts left in his subservient mind—
“Nothing...” he whispers, finally opening his eyes to bask in the liquid, warm gaze of his doting partner. “Nothing, Sho-chan...”
