CHOOSE A PUMPKIN—
Should be fresh with big, round holes for the eyes.

CUT OUT THE TOP—
Slowly, carefully, so as not to spill the juices.

GUT THE INSIDE—
Pull out the big stuffs by hand; gouge the rest with a spoon.

SCRAPE THE OUTSIDE—
Don’t leave a crumb of flesh; no unsightly scratches.

SOAK IN WATER—
No bleach. Too white is too bad. Leave for several hours.

PAT WITH TOWEL—
The blue one that Sho-chan has always loved. Kiss optional.

LET DRY—
Keep it inside. Neighbors might not understand.

DISPOSE OF THE REST—
Must find big, black trash bag...
